Scorpio: the Vrishchika sign

Scorpio is a water sign ruled by Mars (Pluto in modern Western astrology). In Indian astrology the matching rashi is Vrishchika, worked out in a different way. Here is our verdict from the readers we watch, and every source behind it.

Two different "Scorpio" signs

A Western sign is your Sun sign, worked out from your birth date against the tropical zodiac. India's Vrishchika rashi is normally your Moon sign, found from where the Moon stood at your birth, against the sidereal zodiac.2 The two zodiacs sit about 24 degrees apart, so many people are one sign in one system and a different sign in the other. A reading made for the other system can sound unfamiliar.

Where this comes from, and the evidence

Astrology is a belief system. Scientific tests have found no evidence that the positions of the stars and planets predict personality or events, and scientists regard it as a pseudoscience.1 Many people still enjoy it as a talking point or a cultural tradition. Treat it as entertainment, not guidance, and please don't base big decisions on it.
