Don't Trouble the Trouble review: 4.7/10, Skip

Telugu · Tollywood · Released 02 Oct 2026

ReviewHub score: 4.7/10 · Verdict: Skip — based on 7 YouTube reviews (0 positive, 3 mixed, 4 negative).

An 8-year-old steals the movie clean - which says plenty about a 2-hour-40-minute runtime that can't find much else to do.

Story

Don't Trouble the Trouble marks Fahadh Faasil's lead debut in Telugu cinema, presented by SS Rajamouli and produced by his son SS Karthikeya. Faasil plays Suri, a small-time con artist running fake magic tricks in Hyderabad, whose life changes after he 'kidnaps' a young girl, Divya (Ssara Palekar), for ransom - only to discover her powers are real, not a trick. Directed by Shashank Yeleti, the fantasy comedy-drama released simultaneously in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam on 02 Oct 2026.

What works

  • Child actor Ssara Palekar draws consistent praise across nearly every review - reviewers repeatedly call her performance cute, natural and a genuine find
  • Kalabhairava's background score and music are singled out as a highlight in multiple reviews
  • Clean, family-safe content with no vulgarity or adult material lets reviewers describe genuinely full-family theatre crowds, unusual for a premiere show
  • VFX and cinematography on the magic sequences draw specific praise, along with recognisable real Hyderabad locations (Ameerpet Metro, Charminar)

What doesn't

  • The near-2-hour-40-minute runtime is near-universally called stretched and slow, especially before the central conflict properly kicks in
  • The plot is repeatedly called predictable, with a villain track multiple reviewers say exists only to pad the runtime
  • Fahadh Faasil's Telugu dubbing and performance is called 'over the top' or simply miscast by more than one reviewer, despite his reputation
  • The climax draws specific logic complaints, with reviewers listing concrete plot holes left unresolved

What each reviewer said

  • Poolachokka (Telugu) — Wait for OTT, 4/10
“A mixed take on an interesting 'kidnap a ghost' concept - the reviewer calls the first half decent and praises the young lead's performance, but flags Fahadh Faasil's Telugu dubbing and body language as 'a bit over the top' and says the near-2-hour-40-minute runtime badly needed trimming. Bottom line: a troublesome, tiresome watch, rated 1.52 out of the reviewer's own tomato scale.” Watch the review on YouTube
  • Movie Matters (Telugu) — Skip, 3/10
“An unrelenting pan that admits the concept - a con-artist magician and a girl with real supernatural powers - is genuinely interesting on paper, but says the film 'stretched the concept' across 2 hours 38 minutes with 'no comedy, no journey, no drama, nothing at all.' Bottom line: a forced movie with forced characters, a wasted concept.” Watch the review on YouTube
  • Gulte Pro (Telugu) — One-Time Watch, 6/10
“A thoughtful critique noting the character writing is sound but the screenplay 'meanders' away from the one question viewers actually care about - what happened to Divya's parents - spending too long on a cat-and-mouse subplot instead. Still says the climax's police-station scene finally delivers real emotional connection. Bottom line: a warmer film buried under unnecessary detours, but the ending lands.” Watch the review on YouTube
  • FEATU GADI MEDIA (Telugu) — One-Time Watch, 6.5/10
“The most structured review of the batch - praising the performances, music and recognisable Hyderabad locations, while flagging shaky second-half logic and a story structure similar to other recent fantasy films. Bottom line, in the reviewer's own words: 'a warm family fantasy elevated by excellent performances but held back by logic and a familiar structure.'” Watch the review on YouTube
  • Movie Manishi (Telugu) — Skip, 3.5/10
“A harsh pan calling the climax 'illogical to the core' and listing specific plot holes, with a villain track it dismisses as pure comic-relief buffoonery. VFX on the magic sequences is singled out as the one genuine positive. Bottom line: not made for this reviewer, though it concedes families with kids may still enjoy it.” Watch the review on YouTube
  • Thyview (Telugu) — One-Time Watch, 6/10
“A deliberately 'positives-then-negatives' format review that opens by praising the film for being a rare big-screen premiere genuinely built for families, strong lead performances and Kalabhairava's score - then flags a safe, familiar ending and an underused supporting cast as why the back half doesn't fully land. Bottom line, in the reviewer's own words: 'engaging at first, didn't fully work out' - but worth trying with kids.” Watch the review on YouTube
  • It'sMoviecraft (Telugu) — Wait for OTT, 4/10
“Calls the writing the film's 'biggest drawback,' with a predictable plot and a villain track that exists only to pad the runtime, though it credits the young lead's performance, her dubbing, and Kalabhairava's music as genuine bright spots. Bottom line: rated 2 out of 5 - technically fine, emotionally uninvolving.” Watch the review on YouTube
