Jaideep Ahlawat is so good here that multiple reviewers say he outshines Ajay Devgn in Ajay Devgn's own franchise finale.
Story
Drishyam: The Conclusion closes out the Hindi franchise that began in 2015. Vijay Salgaonkar (Ajay Devgn) and his family - wife Nandini (Shriya Saran) and daughters Anju and Anu - face a reopened murder investigation when SP Crime Rajveer Singh Tomar (Jaideep Ahlawat) arrives with new evidence, drawing IG Meera Deshmukh (Tabu) and her husband Mahesh (Rajat Kapoor) back into the case, with Prakash Raj joining as prosecuting lawyer Indrajit Shetty. Directed by Abhishek Pathak with an original (non-remake) story and climax, it released on 02 Oct 2026 - the same date, Gandhi Jayanti, that anchored Vijay's original alibi a decade ago.
What works
- Jaideep Ahlawat's antagonist performance draws outsized praise across nearly every review, with several reviewers calling him more impressive than Ajay Devgn in individual scenes
- The climax is repeatedly singled out as stronger than Drishyam 2's, with multiple reviewers describing genuine, repeated shock at its twists
- Reviewers confirm this is an original story and climax rather than a remake of the Malayalam Drishyam 3, crediting writer-director Abhishek Pathak and the writing team for moving the franchise past its old formula
- Kamlesh Sawant's recurring comic-relief character (Gaitonde) and Ajay Devgn's largely wordless, eyes-driven performance both get specific individual praise
What doesn't
- The first half is repeatedly called slow or a weaker build-up than the first two films, with more than one reviewer warning it won't land for every viewer
- Needing to remember specific plot details from Drishyam 1 and 2 is flagged as a real barrier - viewers who don't recall the earlier films are warned they may get lost
- The franchise is noted to still lack a signature, instantly recognisable background theme the way some Hollywood or Korean thrillers have
- One reviewer felt the story leaned too one-sided and missed the darker, more unsettling tone of the first film
What each reviewer said
- YOGI BOLTA HAI (Hindi) — Must Watch, 8/10
“Says Jaideep Ahlawat is more impressive than Ajay Devgn in several scenes and credits the writing for making the audience root for a protagonist who is, on paper, tampering with evidence and misleading a murder investigation. Flags the first half as the weakest of the three films before the climax pulls it back. Bottom line: 4 stars - 'this is not a remake... go watch it.'” Watch the review on YouTube - BHT REVIEW (Hindi) — Good Watch, 7.5/10
“Calls the climax bigger than Drishyam 2's and says the tension in the back half is unlike anything in the franchise, but is upfront that the first half's slow build-up 'was not for all the audience' and won't land for everyone. Bottom line: 'if I call it the film of the year, it will not be wrong' - best enjoyed with family, not alone.” Watch the review on YouTube - Filmy Mouj Official (Hindi) — Must Watch, 8.5/10
“Calls the screenplay's writer worthy of a salute and says Ajay Devgn's near-silent, eyes-only performance - he barely speaks for long stretches - is some of his finest work yet. Praises Jaideep Ahlawat's antagonist turn and predicts a career-best opening for Devgn. Bottom line: 'this movie is really really really good... definitely a must watch movie.'” Watch the review on YouTube - Komal Nahta Official (Hindi) — Must Watch, 8.5/10
“A trade-press-style review calling the screenplay 'supremely interesting' and praising nearly every technical department by name - Sudhir K Chaudhary's cinematography, Amar Mohile's background score, and the full ensemble including Jaideep Ahlawat, Prakash Raj and Kamlesh Sawant. Bottom line: 'Drishyam The Conclusion is a super hit, no questions asked.'” Watch the review on YouTube - ABHI KA REVIEW (Hindi) — Must Watch, 9/10
“A fan-level take praising Jaideep Ahlawat's pre-interval face-off and calling the climax's twists genuinely shocking, repeatedly, while warning that newcomers who don't remember Parts 1 and 2's characters and backstory will get lost and bored. Also flags the one real technical gap across all three films - no instantly recognisable, scary franchise theme the way some Hollywood or Korean thrillers have. Bottom line: rates it 8, then revises personally up to 9 out of 10.” Watch the review on YouTube - Filmi Indian (Hindi) — Must Watch, 8/10
“Argues this isn't a remake of the Malayalam original at all and says the final twist is strong enough that 'all the shows are going to be houseful for the next 15 days,' while using the review to openly criticize Ajay Devgn for wasting his stardom on lesser films between Drishyam instalments. Bottom line: 4 out of 5 stars - 'the neatest and cleanest suspense thriller of 2026.'” Watch the review on YouTube - Jasstag (Hindi) — Must Watch, 8/10
“Credits director Abhishek Pathak's writing for moving the franchise past its old formula instead of repeating it, singling out the Ajay Devgn-Jaideep Ahlawat face-off and the courtroom sequences as the film's biggest strengths. Bottom line: 'above expectations... a cinematic event for every Drishyam fan in the theatre.'” Watch the review on YouTube
