These four holidays land on a Saturday or Sunday in 2026, so no trading day is lost:

- 21 Mar (Saturday): Id-Ul-Fitr (Ramadan Eid)
- 15 Aug (Saturday): Independence Day
- 8 Nov (Sunday): Diwali Laxmi Pujan
Muhurat trading on 8 November
NSE will hold its special Diwali Muhurat trading session on Sunday 8 November 2026, the day of Laxmi Pujan. It is a short evening session; NSE announces the exact timings in a separate circular closer to the date.
Good to know
- On a trading holiday the equity and equity derivatives (F&O) segments are both closed. The commodity and currency segments can follow different timings, so check those separately.
- NSE can add a holiday at short notice, as it did for the Maharashtra municipal elections on 15 Jan 2026. Check NSE's holiday page before you plan around a date.
- For orders that span a holiday, ask your broker how they handle them.
