Insidious: Out of The Further review: 6.6/10, Good Watch

English · Indie · Released 21 Aug 2026

ReviewHub score: 6.6/10 · Verdict: Good Watch — based on 10 YouTube reviews (6 positive, 4 mixed, 0 negative).

The best Insidious since the originals - which also makes it the first one in years that's scary for reasons other than nostalgia.

Story

The horror series returns to its supernatural roots. A new protagonist faces mysterious apparitions that go far beyond classic haunting phenomena. Evil finds new ways to enter reality.

What works

  • Widely called the best Insidious entry since the original two films
  • Genuinely effective, well-designed claustrophobic sequences in the pillow fort and dentist scenes
  • A surprising, well-earned climax
  • Strong child-actor performance

What doesn't

  • Leans on overused horror cliches without much new creative spark
  • An underwritten boyfriend character
  • Second half turns predictable and repeats itself
  • The villain and third act feel silly to some reviewers

What each reviewer said

  • Filmi Indian (English) — Good Watch, 7/10
“Praises the excellent Hindi dubbing quality and says this is a family-safe horror film with no bold content, though it warns anyone afraid of dentists to stay away from a particularly nasty sequence. Bottom line: An accessible, well-dubbed horror outing that leans on childhood fears rather than gore.” Watch the review on YouTube
  • 3C Films (English) — Good Watch, 6.5/10
“A detailed critic's take calling this the best entry in the franchise since the original two films, praising the mother-daughter backstory and new 'further' abilities, though the villain and a silly third act hold it back from greatness. Bottom line: A pleasant surprise worth renting or streaming, even if it falls short of the originals.” Watch the review on YouTube
  • Mokka Commentry (English) — One-Time Watch, 6/10
“Praises the top-notch sound design in the claustrophobic pillow-fort and dentist sequences, but criticizes an underwritten boyfriend character and leans hard into overused horror cliches without James Wan's original creative spark. Bottom line: A technically well-made but formulaic entry - interesting, but it could have been better.” Watch the review on YouTube
  • Trendswood Tv (English) — One-Time Watch, 6/10
“Calls it a decent, engaging watch with a strong first half, though the second half repeats itself and the climax drags. Says you don't need to have seen the earlier films to follow this one. Bottom line: A watchable but unremarkable entry that doesn't need any franchise homework.” Watch the review on YouTube
  • Charcha with bhurani (English) — Good Watch, 7/10
“Calls this the best Insidious entry since the first two chapters, singling out the cinematography and a suffocating single-take tracking shot as the film's strongest asset. Bottom line: Visually inventive enough to recommend watching on the big screen.” Watch the review on YouTube
  • Aryamann Reviews (English) — One-Time Watch, 7/10
“A mixed take: the first half's jump scares and Alice's return work well, but the second half turns predictable and the Hindi dub's cringeworthy dialogue undercuts the horror. Rates it 7 out of 10. Bottom line: Neither great nor bad - a solidly middling watch.” Watch the review on YouTube
  • चलो Review करें (English) — Good Watch, 6.5/10
“A self-described horror skeptic admits being genuinely shaken by specific breathless, strangling sensations in a few key scenes, calling the experience worth the ticket price even if it's no masterpiece. Bottom line: Effective enough to convert a viewer who doesn't normally enjoy horror movies.” Watch the review on YouTube
  • The Fencer Show (English) — One-Time Watch, 5.5/10
“Finds the setup neat but the story tapering into an expected, unremarkable flow with a predictable climax. Rates it 2.8 out of 5. Bottom line: Worth a try once, but nothing more than that.” Watch the review on YouTube
  • Unni Vlogs Cinephile (English) — Good Watch, 7/10
“Praises the world-building, the child actor's performance, and a genuinely surprising climax, saying the film works fine as a standalone even without deep franchise knowledge. Notes the dental gore sequence is intense enough to be tough to sit through. Bottom line: A satisfying, well-built horror entry worth catching in theatres.” Watch the review on YouTube
  • WeWatchedAMovie (English) — Good Watch, 7.5/10
“An enthusiastic take that calls this a genuine reinvigoration of the franchise after a weak previous entry, praising the new villain and demon designs as some of the series' best. Rates it a strong 7.5 out of 10. Bottom line: A pleasant surprise that might be this critic's favorite sequel in the series.” Watch the review on YouTube
