Spider-Man: Brand New Day review: 6.9/10, Must Watch

English · Indie · Released 30 Jul 2026

ReviewHub score: 6.9/10 · Verdict: Must Watch — based on 6 YouTube reviews (5 positive, 1 mixed, 0 negative).

Tom Holland's most confident Spider-Man yet, undercut slightly by trailers that already showed you most of the good parts.

Story

Having lost his old life and identity, Peter Parker rebuilds himself as a more grounded, solitary Spider-Man - wrestling with new powers he can't fully control and a strained relationship with MJ, all while colliding with the Hulk, Scorpion, and a dangerous new mutant threat.

What works

  • Widely praised as Tom Holland's most confident performance in the role yet
  • Genuine emotional depth reminiscent of Raimi's Spider-Man 2
  • Standout ninja-fight and Hulk sequences in the second half
  • Strong cinematography and a return to practical web-swinging

What doesn't

  • A slow first-half build with limited action
  • A fairly predictable ending with no real twists
  • Trailers gave away nearly every major action beat
  • Punisher is an underused supporting character

What each reviewer said

  • YOGI BOLTA HAI (English) — Good Watch, 7/10
“Manages expectations by saying this isn't as epic as No Way Home and the first half is a slow build with limited action, but praises a strong emotional core reminiscent of Raimi's Spider-Man 2 and calls the Hulk and hand-ninja sequences in the second half genuine highlights. Bottom line: A quieter, more character-driven entry that rewards patience.” Watch the review on YouTube
  • Filmi Indian (English) — Must Watch, 8/10
“Praises the emotional depth and Tom Holland's most confident performance yet, calling the ninja fight sequence some of the best action in the franchise, though it wishes a major new character had more screen time. Rates it 4 out of 5. Bottom line: Exceeds expectations more through heart than spectacle.” Watch the review on YouTube
  • Mokka Commentry (English) — Good Watch, 6.5/10
“Praises the cinematography and practical web-swinging as genuinely different from past films, but flags overlong dialogue-heavy scenes, a predictable ending with no real twists, and an underwhelming post-credits stinger. Bottom line: Visually beautiful and emotionally grounded, but could have been tightened.” Watch the review on YouTube
  • Mokka Commentry (English) — Good Watch, 7/10
“A lore-heavy follow-up that still lands on a clear personal verdict - praising the character development, cinematography and balance of emotion and action - while criticizing Sony's marketing for giving away nearly every major action beat in the trailers. Bottom line: A movie this reviewer liked a lot, despite trailers spoiling its own surprises.” Watch the review on YouTube
  • PONDY TALKS (English) — One-Time Watch, 5/10
“A brief reaction noting the story took an unexpected direction but found the fight scenes fairly ordinary. Bottom line: A short, lukewarm take that neither praises nor condemns the film.” Watch the review on YouTube
  • Aritra's Gyan (English) — Must Watch, 8/10
“A detailed take calling this the best Tom Holland Spider-Man film yet, praising mature, Sam Raimi-influenced storytelling and strong lead performances, while criticizing an underused Punisher and a villain backstory that arrives too late to land emotionally. Bottom line: More thoughtful and character-driven than its predecessors, even with a few underbaked side elements.” Watch the review on YouTube
